Profile
I cannot draw a straight line. Mind you, I'm not that great a musician either but I've still managed to write and record thirteen or fourteen (I've lost count) albums with my bands, The Boo Radleys, bravecaptain and the latest, 'Ye Gods (and little fishes)' under my own name.
It's all about imagination and not recognising limits, it's like Browning wrote; “Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?”. I was brought up being told I couldn't sing or draw but I wanted to do both, so I did.
The illustrations here are mainly things I've done for the Times. I illustrate Caitlin Moran's column every Monday. We are the Lennon and McCartney of the column world. I've also illustrated Times columns for Ken Russell, Rachel Campbell-Johnston and Judith O'Reilly. I've also worked for Swn Festival, Chapter Arts Centre, Super Furry Animals and Los Campesinos!
